If Disney re-imagineered Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, what bands would we like to see featured? We don’t come up with anything Disney would approve of, but we have fun talking about it!
Best quote: “I want to be the Nancy Spungen of Disney,” says Lisa.
Jennifer can’t resist a shameless plug for her now-defunct band, The Amazing Poundcakes, whose music she snuck into the background here and there. The Watchamacallit wants you to read ROFLRAZZI. And we all hope you’ll post ideas here about bands you’d like to post here in the comments.
I like the Electric Mayhem idea that was thrown out. I keep thinking of bands to put in there and keep coming back to that.
Maybe the rider can select from a list of songs to listen to and they are “Muppet versions” of them.
The Rolling Stones would work, for maybe a few years.
The greatest prog rock band of all time and my personal favorite Dream Theater! Now that would truely be a Rock’n RollerCoaster!
I saw Dream Theater when I was in College. They were playing at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor.
Ooh, all these are giving me food for thought for this week’s Jentasmic column (for which I am ALWAYS in need of ideas!).
First of I was suprised that U2 was not mentioned as they are still selling out arenas, release new music, and have broad appeal.
Other bands that still seem to lead in selling out shows and release a new song every couple of years with long term appeal (in no order):
KISS
Bon Jovi
Sting/Police
Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
AC/DC
The Eagles
A newer band would be like The Killers or if you had to go country Rascal Flatts.
I should have also listed Green Day.
The conversation continues over at StudiosCentral, where this week’s Jentasmic shares some of your ideas and gathers thoughts from others.

I just don’t know what it says about either of us… when Japanese pop was mentioned I immediately thought of Shonen Knife… 10 seconds later the Watchamacallit mentions them… that a 13-year-old and a 53-year-old both went to the same (fairly obscure) band should be disturbing for at least one of us…
Fishyrocketboy, hear you loud and clear.
The Watchamacallit and I tend to love the same shops (Hot Topic, what a guilty pleasure!), and end up with each other’s clothing either as loaners or hand-me-downs. I’m not sure whether he dresses like a 43-year-old woman, or I dress like a 13-year-old boy. He’s of the belief that we both dress like a 15-year-old girl. (And if anyone knows that particular 15-year-old girl, send her our way, I need some tips on eye liner.)
The B52’s!!!
Taking a ride to the Love Shack!!!
I’m more than happy with Aaron’s recommendation of the Police. I know it may be oversaturation because of the British Invasion at Epcot, but I’d personally recommend the Beatles (“Drive My Car”, anyone?)
I like Disney as much as the next person. But the REAL reason I am here is that I am kind of anal about my iTunes library and the two Amazing Poundcakes releases I have in my library don’t have artwork. Does anything exist? “The Amazing Poundcakes” link in the blog is apparently dead.
Yup, the Poundcakes have gone the way of many local bands, and pretty much disappeared from the internet after playing some of Boston’s smallest and least-attended clubs for a number of years.
In the spirit of DIY, here are images you can throw into iTunes to use as album art if you like:

Thanks a bunch. That totally just gave me a 4 hour erection. š
